BACKGROUND

Deepwater Volunteer Fire and Rescue is located in Deepwater, Missouri on the Harry S. Truman Reservoir. DVFR has been serving the community since the early 1900s, covering a very large territory in Henry County. DVFR is 100% volunteer, responding to Structure Fires, Natural Cover Fires, Automotive Fires, Motor Vehicle Accidents, ATV Accidents, HazMat Incidents, Search and Rescue Incidents, Technical and Water Rescue Incidents, Medical Incidents and any other emergency to which it is called. The department responds to all alarms, whether a member or not, as well as responding Mutual Aid to any department that requests. The department currently keeps a roster of 24 volunteers, all trained in various firefighting skills, with some being trained as Medical First Responders. The departments budget averages about $15,000 annually, with those funds coming from a combination of taxes, dues, donations and fundraisers.
